does java moss grow very slow? does java moss root itself to things? the reason im asking is that i have had my moss for about a month now and its a realnice shade of green since it was kinda brown when arrived, but does not seemed to have grown or rooted. i have no co2 in my tank

any help would be great.

yeah Java moss can be slow to glow, esp if you don't have co2. Now I have high light and CO2 I can see new green growth everyday. Yours may be growing, but v slowly so you can't see the new growth very well. I had some that rooted very very well to bog wood (in my low tach tank) but it does take time. It sounds like your conditions are suitable though, brown to green sounds like you revived it and it's happy!

are the roots the same colour,

java moss does not have roots.Well you could say the whole thing is a root.If you look closely it has little leafy bits.If you tye java moss down to bogwood ,rocks or slate using fishing line, hair nets or cotton over about 3 weeks it will of attached itself to the object, then you can remove what was holding the java moss down(or leave it if it's not distracting). You can create a carpet by just shoving bits into the gravel
