Hi everyone, My LFS are selling Coconut caves covered with java moss at the mo for £4 a time. I think it looks good. I would like to buy one. Just a few questions.
I have read the thread on java but just want to make sure i'm doing the right thing.

Am i right in thinking that the java will only grow upwards from the coconut shell and towards the light and not outwards onto my gravel spreading everywhere?

does java help in the combat against algae?

how fast does it grow?.....how many cm a week?

is it easy to keep under control?

will my fish eat it? Look at my sig.

On my sig you will see a grey cave on the left side of the tank. do you think I should do the hair net thing and make i look more natural. or would this be a bit big?

I would be most gratefull for any tips
cheers brads :hyper:

1. It will grow upwards and possibly will branch out a bit but not much.

2. Wont really help combat algae as its a very slow grower. If you want to combat algae this is'nt the way.

3. As above it grows slow and will take a few weeks for you to notice the growth (check out this topic as it has some pictures: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=101806)

4. Easy to keep under control, just prune it as and when required.

5. Not to sure abotu this but your oto's might nibble at it :)
