Java Moss

yep it wouldn't cause any problems to anything and will grow in fresh water and brackish (i think), low and high lighting levels and doesn't require a substrate.

very usefull plant in every aspect

Search for it on google! You will find plenty of websites with it on and what to do with it!

It's best attached to bogwood but you can have it floating!

Yeah I did Google it but it says it likes to attach to stuff. I don't have any bogwood or big rocks in my tank (only gravel) and I don't really want it floating - so you it attach itself to gravel?

I'm not sure about that at all. If you wedge it in the gravel it will just spread out and in the end become very unmanagable. As he gravel is smoove it will probably not attach to it and just wedge inbetween the pieces of gravel.

If you have it in your gravel how would you use a gravel vac?

If you have the moss covering the whole of the gravel you won't need to vacuum :)
OK, so where does all the fish waste and uneaten food goto then?

Timmy, even if you only put it on some part of the gravel it will spread out over all of the gravel!

kris-b, look at my sig. do you really think i vaccume all my gravel!! about 5% of it is visable and that is all that gets vacuumed, the rest hasn't been touched for a year, the corys do the cleaning as does the bacteria.

planted tanks dont need vacuuming at all. (that was meant in the nicest possible way but i cant think how to reword it)

as to timmystood's query yes you can literally chuck a clump of it in your tank, get a small handfull of gravel and dump it on top traping parts of the moss beneath. java moss grows slowly so will be easy to manage, just give it a haircut whenever it gets too long, corys will love it and borrow happily in the tangle of moss to get at all the trapped food.

go for it, you cant go wrong with java moss.

the main thing to worry about isn't about if its ok to keep with your fish and is would ur fish eat all the java moss. :)
