I recently aquired some java moss (via this website!) and after having it strapped to a piece of bogwood for 3 weeks i untied it and it stayed on. All looked good. Now 4 weeks after being untied it is still the same size and isnt/doesnt seem to be growing at all but it isnt dead. Anyone know why much appreciated

I bought java moss from greenline aquatics quite a while back, it's not at all healthy.

All my other plants are growing really well including my riccia, so i've purchase java moss from maidenhead aquatics which is my lfs which is 20 times healthier and doing very well.

Hi Bakerboi,

The moss will grow honest. What kind of lightning do you have in the tank?
Mine is in a Juwel aquarium with the standard juwel lights and reflectors. I find the moss which is higher up the bogwood and closer to the light grows a lot faster as the tank is quite deep. I only set the tank up in april and put a thin layer of moss tied with cotton on the bogwood and it has grown really thick and spread loads. The higher moss is a paler shade of green.

Don't give up on it yet, spread it thin or the moss underneath won't grow as much.
