i want to put some Java Moss in my tank. I didnt see any in my LFS, so im looking at like aquabid and ebay. Alot of people sell, a small clump, or a bag full, or a golf ball sized amount. I cant imagine this can cover much area, so how quickly will it grow out? If i get a say 4"x6" piece of slate and cover as much as possible with this little amount, how long before It would attach and cover the rest of the slate? Also, how long before its starts to release new moss, so I can get a new slate piece going? Thanks

i would say give it a few week to get it established, after that it will start reproducing ne levaes quite rapidly. If you spread the moss out effectivley - just a thin layer but make sure everywhere is covered - then you will get a few pieces of slate. It is very surprising how a little bunch can go a long way.

ok, cool. I guess I buy a small bundle and be patient, then Ill have a decent amount.
