hi i'm new to live plants and have a few questions. i read the articles about the co2 and i'm still a bit confused.. the only plants i'm going to have is java moss and java fern. i know the water absorbs co2 from the air and get it from the fish. so i was wondering if these two plants still need extra co2? i made a diy co2 reactor using a 2 liter bottle but i'm afraid of overdosing the tank and harming my fish.. also can i just use an airstone as a diffuser? thanks.

i have a 10 gallon, 1.5 wpg, and this is my filter http://www.fishsupply.com/siwsn-60010.html
what i have in my tank are 2 guppies, 2 platies, 2 otos, 1 dwarf puffer (separated by tank divider).

u dont need co2 for those and u cant overdose it with 1 bottle, and i use a simple air diffuser, they came in a pack of 4 for like $2... all u need is 1 and ur good... im sure u'd be fine with, or without it.

Hi there.

Remember that different plants need different requirments in regard of C02 , light , ferts.

Every plant will benefit from exstra c02 but with a 1.5 WPG rating you will have more c02 than what the plants will actually use.Aspecially with Ferns and Moss.

I would say you dont need it but will help.

i was thinking since the moss is a slow starter i might use the co2 in the beginning until it gets going. that's what i'm afraid of.. the plants not taking enough co2 in and my fish suffering because of it.
