Java Moss In Marine Setup?

i got a piece of java moss free with my test kit on ebay about 4 weeks ago. since then it has grown substantially. only thing is that it breaks up and ends up at the filter inlet.

anyone got any hints as to how to keep it tidy and away from the filter inlet as i'm concerned that this could clog/ reduce the filtering ability
