Hi,

I have had some java moss for about 4 months. It has grown a lot and really well, better than I expected to be honest but there is one problem. I noticed thats a few strands of the moss is brown/turning brown - why is this? not enough light? not enough ferts.? or is it that the die off and get replaced by new leaves like normal plants?

Thanks

I have read that this is from not having it spread thin enough, but someone else can give you better advice

I placed a few bits on a rock, now it has grown really well like a bush. I can't even see the rock underneith any more. Maybe trim it back and use these pieces on other rocks/wood?

If your furn is growing well cut the old leaves off when they start to go brown is places. This makes the plant grow stronger with more fresh green leaves.
If you want to propagate then leave the old leaves and you will see young plant-lets growing along the leaf, these can be tied to more wood and stone and the process continues.
