I recently bought some java moss from ebay. It's very dull and brown but i guess that is expected for a while?

My main problem is it seems to be lots of small bits, and no matter how much cotton i use to tie it down, bits keep breaking away! I thought java moss should be more naturally twined together?

Anyone with some experience of this?

Thanks.

I did the same and I had the same problem bought from 'onlinefishtank'. Who did you buy it from out of interest??

It should be all entwined together. its quite fast rowing so in a few weeks or so you will have bigger clumps

Matty - it's my first go at using moss and i guess i wasn't aware people on here were sellers. I will bare that in mind though as i think i need to buy some better stuff!

Tracey - it was fishyfishykudu

You will get much better value for money on the forum, bigger quantities, healthier.

Not that I ever sell any, ahem. :)

(shameless plug!)

Haha! A+ for effort! How much do you sell for?

Sometimes the transporting can leave it very limp, try bunching all the good bits together as best you can and wrap the cotton around in one direction, followed in the opposite. So it forms like a mesh over it all.

And yeah I can vouch for JoJo's moss.

Lol, I just think the classifieds on here are great, and should be utilised more.

You buy plants that you know are healthy, from an established tank usually, so no melting. You usually get better deals as well.

Some people just throw away cuttings, but why when you can sell them for a small amount and help another hobbyist out.

The money I make I use to fund other fish related purchases, usually on this forum :) and when I get grief from my other half for buying so much, my defence is 'it's from my moss money!' which keeps her quiet! :)

Lol jojo that's what u do!!
