Hello Guys
Its been a while since I have been on this section.

I have a mbuna tank and stupidly added Vallis and java fern.

As you guessed the vallis lasted all of 3 days but the java fern seems to be doing really well.

It has brown roots at the top of its main leaves and small plantlets.

Should I leave them to continue to grow or bury the ends in the sand?

I give them no special treatment and I just wanted to make sure the plantlets are the plants way of saying they are okay and not that they are about to die.

Cheers

Plantlets generally grow on the old leaves of java ferns. You can leave them to grow if you want, and they'll eventually break off, and then you can plant them. Aquascapers tend to remove plantlets, as they are using up energy that could be used for the plant to grow, but it's fine to leave them.

cheers :good:

jave ferns will rot if the roots are planted,

This is simply not true. It is the rhizome from which the roots sprout that can not be buried, the roots, on the other hand, can be.
