Is it normal for it to have brown spots and little decay in some areas. I am keeping it in mild brackish (1.007 sg), but I have ferts and decent lighting, thanks in advance.

I think that the brown spots are reproductive areas but yea mine has spots and is flourishing.

The spots will get hairy, like nasty algae. They are actually roots. Then you'll see small leaves develop. Cool or what.

Yeah mine have some brown spots and as the previous poster said, these turn into leaves and roots.
