Java Fern

hi everyone...i purchased a buch of java fern today and saw that one of the leaves was sprouting another leaf off the side...is it something wrong with it or is it just making a new plant?...just wondering because it seems kinda weird and i thought plants leaves came from the bottom of the plant

That's how java ferns propogate, once big enough you can take the new plantlet off the leaf, replant and away you go

Will it produce a stem at the bottem of the plantlet or will i just have to remove the leaf and plant it ?

Yeah, there will be a small stem (rhizome) that will be attached to the main leaf. When the new plantlet is big enough it'll detach itself, or you can just give it a gentle tug.
