my cousin came to me with a japanese fighter he said it was eating his fish after puting it into my tank he has setled with my fish (mixed tropical) the only thing is he dosent seem to be eating i only got him three days ago is this just him still setling in or could somthing elsee be wrong

And there is actually no such thing as a Japanese Fighter, they are usually called the Siamese Fighting fish, Betta Splendens. They can be quite aggressive towards normal community fish, although on the flip side I have seen them being beaten up by tetras, it really depends on the fish's individual personality.

Please make sure you use the correct forums, there is a Bettas forum, or a Tropical Fish Forum, either of which would have been much more suitable for posting this thread.

Male bettas dont make the best community fish as they are either very agressive, or get pushed out of the way by other fish, and can find difficulty in competing for food with other fish because their long fins weigh them down and make them to slow to catch food, soo...
The most likely reason why your new betta is not eating is because it is having issues with the other tank mates, either that or the filter current is too strong for him and making him too tired to be active. How many gallons is the tank and what and how many fish do you have in it :) ?
