Jai Doesn't Seem As Lively In His New Home :(

He came from LFS community 3 days ago and spent first 2 days in a 1g and was sooooo happy building bubble nests and very lively. Today's gone into his 3.3g but seems pretty fed up. Is this normal? I feared this may happen.

He's just getting used to his new house, have you added lots of plants etc?

No plants as yet because the hood has no lighting inside, it has heater, gravel and lovely hide-out and the filter is going in tomorrow. He perks up when I go to the tank, even let me stroke him earlier, but when he was in the 1g he was lively, but now in the 3.3g is just hiding in the corner.

i agree with zoe, its probably just him getting used to his new home, give him some hiding places and little bits of his fav foods, he should be fine in a day or so when hes settled in

they dont have to be live, silk ones are fine. he'll be fine

He's perking up, he's built a tiny bubble nest. I just added a silk plant too.
I don't like the smell coming from the tank though, I can still smell the 'new' gravel smell. Hopefully the filter will sort it out.

did you wash the gravel thoroughly or boil it and let it cool before adding him? what colour is the gravel? If it is coloured, then the dye from the gravel is what you might be smelling.

I washed it but not boiled it, it's red. It's the first time I've used mini gravel which isn't porous like the standard gravel, I think that's where I've gone wrong, but there were no instructions to boil. Think I might have to start again.
