Jade Eye Or T Bar Can You Tell Me

Hi all I went to my LFS yesterday and purchesed my jade eye chiclid and im well impressed real bonny fish but when I looked them up on net there was pictures of jade eye's that looked nothing like mine then I read a thread by some body that had posted a picture of there jade eye and he was told it was a t bar chiclid(cryptonheros sajica) and it was the double of mine and I was wondering why they are getting sold as jade eye and not t bar's as there was 3 other people that had bought the t bar's as jade eye's just on that one site and I wondered if any one on here could shed a little light on the matter for me. thanx.

do you have a picture of the fish?

different places call the same fish by different names. Common names can be a real problem when it comes to identifying things hence the reason many places have a scientific name as well as a common name for their fish.

Hi and thanx all this has been a real help I am hoping to get some pics uploaded soon but my card reader is on the blink. sheilaf did u buy yours as t bars or jade eye because they are the same as nelly's t bar's and mine is identical so mine is a t bar as well thought so. cheers guys thats that one sorted by the way there all cracking looking fish

I purchased mine as T-bar cichlids (Cryptoheros sajica) from another member of my Aquarium club.

Well my Tbar has paired up with my convict is this a normal ocurance between the two,my Tbar has lost his normal markings and has now got big black line under his belly and just going up his side aboute a quater the way up he looks well cool and my convict wont leave his side this has only happened since putting an outher convict in wich I think both are female but Tbar only has eyes for one girl they completly ignore the new convict.

Yes they can and will cross breed.
