Jacks And Oscars

I do have a 55gal tank that the Oscar will get to move into in a couple of months and as he starts to mature, the canister filters look like they are the best i guess i need to research just about how much that will run but does sound like a great idea. Thanks for the advice Ninja Smurf

As stated 42l is not suitable for 'a couple of months'

In 42 litres, the fish could get stressed from lack of space or put a MAJOR strain on the internal filter. Both of these could cause serious illness. Sure, the fish technically has enough space that it won't get stunted but it could become dangerously stressed from lack of swimming space and other factors.

I wouldn't do it. You could get a 60 or even 90 litre tub from a local store like Wilkinsons and put him in that. Cheap, and he'd be much happier (even if it isn't perfect).

You'll either need a large canister filter or two really powerful internals. I don't think you'll be able to get away with less, filtration wise.
