Jack Demsey X Pink Convict?

I have heard that its possible to crossbreed Jack Demseys and Convicts. I haven't read anything to prove it or seen pictures but I have heard about it from several sources. Is it possible?

It is unfortunately possible to breed all sorts of new worlds cichlids together so the possibility is high. I wish it weren't so.

I've been thinking about trying a pink convict with a jack dempsey. A pink bodied dempsey would be very cool.

i don't think the cross would result in a pink JD. if i recall, pink convicts are just albino/lutino convicts--ie, they lack the genes to express skin pigments.

odds are good that if the JD can cross with a convict, the JD's pigment genes would be dominant over the convict's albino genes. you might get pink JDs in a 2nd generation cross, but that's unlikely to happen since most hybrids are infertile.

I don't think the pink convicts are albino but more likely lutino. My pink convicts have dark eyes so they definately aren't albinos. Only the female shows a little color, she has her orange on her sides.

Most likely any hybrids would be infertile but it would be interesting to see what a JDXConvict cross would look like. If they were viable offspring that would quite interesting too.

Woa! I thought you told teh truth at first when I first saw that thing! It's pretty cool. Has there ever been a discus angel hybrid? I'll think I'll google image it.

Thats a unicorn parrot.. I have one..... I agree though they shouldn't be doing things like that..... I've only seen one... was in the store for a year.. nobody would buy it.. so I finally decided to buy it..

but it really isn't a great thing to be doing.. I don't think you see it very often anymore..
