My Jack Dempsey is crazy!!!!!! The second I go into my room he goes crazy. He slams back and forth across the the tank destroying everything. What do I do I cant even go in my room help!

Well he is a fully grown JD and I just got I last weak. for the las 7 days I have barley seen him at all he has been hiding but he is not hiding any more. He is fine when no one is in the room but the second some one goes in he goes crazy!!!! I checked the states yesterday chlorine is 0 ammo is 0 Nitrite is 0 and PH is 7.8 (and has been 7.8 for a month) so what do I do?

how open is the tank? I would try to add as many hiding places as possible to make it feel more secure
I've found JD's to be naturally shy around people, preferring to stay hidden away when people are around

much as davo said jd seem in my oppinion nervous cichlids, i would aim to add alot of hiding spots in different area's........plastic plants are also a good idea as if they get destroyed who cares,,,,,with my tank i have put some plastic old undergravel filter sheets across the glass which in turn creates a shaded area where they can also retreat
