Last night I went to Petsmart keeping in mind I wanted a 1 gallon tank for my new female, Nyx, who was stuch in a gallon jar. I found it and passed the betta section. Naturally I wouldn't have just 'passed' it. :p I looked around. Most of the bettas were tiny and weren't moving. The only one who was was an exception ally pretty, medium-sized steel blue crowntail. He was flaring at a half-dead male. I bought him at 3.49 ( :S ) and took a 2.5 gallon tank for him. It was around 9.00 dollars. Anyway, I took him and the two tanks home and put Nyx in the new tank, and him the 2.5 one, seeing as how I figured he might want more swimming room. Added Salt and conditioner to both of them. :) Right now he is basically going crazy over Nyx, flaring and everything. He, unlike Nyx, WILL eat the pellets.

But.. I also got freeze dried brine shrimp and none of them seem to like it. Not even Nyx, who I figured would.

I'm not suprised, to be honest. I highly recommend purchasing some frozen bloodworms and frozen brine shrimp...preferrabley Hikari brand. Thaw it out in a cup or shallow dish of tank water...I've posted before about it...it will simulate movement. The stuff at the surface might not be moving around for him to take interest. I don't recommend any type of dried foods until you get him eating...and do it as a snack. Good Luck.
