Well, I haven't but my fishes have. I think it came from one of the fishes I bought recently and my lack of maintenance because of exams.

Anyway I have loaches in the tank. I'm still not sure how much medicine I need. Some say 50% dose. Some say 100% is fine. Also how hot should I turn the heat up to? I would be treating the small tank as well as I have been moving things between tank recently. Do I need to reduce dose for corys and shrimps well?

Thanks.

The above link is interesting. I have a link in my signature that I used.

I used a full strength, full dose, full term formalin/malachite green (Quick Cure in the US) and the shrimp, corys and plecos tolerated it. I also raised temps to 30C and increase aeration.

I wish the moderaters would pin an article on ich and ich treatment!!!!! (That is for the mods not you OP)

So it is safe to cook the fishes at 30oC and full dose for the bottom dwellers that I have?

I used some white spot treatment from my LFS and just followed the guidelines on the bottle i believe it was interpet. I turned the temp up to about 30 and added an airstone as the meds are rumoured to strip oxygen from the water.

That's a little scary for me. I just raised the temp a couple of degrees above what it had been, and dosed at 50% because of the corys and pleco. It still took care of the ich.

Thanks.

I am lucky (or my fishes are) as I spotted the white spot this morning out of the blue. I do admire them when I can but I wasn't looking for ick. Only noticed one of them have 1 spot on its tail, which led me to look at other fishes. Alas they all have 1 spot (only).

Did a big water change and took all the plants and rocks and wood out. Two zebra loaches was hiding in the wood and unfortunately was out of water for a couple of minutes. Only realised they were there when they fell out of the wood onto the decking in the garden (where I left the wood to dry). Fortunately they are still alive and returned to their normal colour.

My wife bought the med, King British. Using 50% dose. Temp up to 28oC as a compromise. I'll change water again after a few days and see... hopefully I will have no casualty.

I'm medicating the plant separately. Can't be a$$ed to replant them yet as I will be vacuuming the gravel properly and regularly for the next few water change. I can do without ick attack again to be honest.

Just an update.

I did a 60% water change, vacuum the sand/gravel, used 1/2 dose and turn the temp up to 28C last Thursday. Did another water change on Monday. The white spots have certainly gone the last time I checked. I think I'll use another dose when I do my last water change on Thursday or Friday. The loaches are all fine, even the two which were out of water for a few minutes! The pleco is fine as well.

Thanks for all the advice.
