Went to one of the local pet stores to pick up some peace offerings for my Cockatiel (he's mad with me...) and took a look at their fish while I was there. Their female bettas caught my attention. They were so tiny, Should they even be selling them at this size?. They were all less than 1" long. Pretty colours... but TINY! Sizewise, she was slightly shorter than the thin part of my key.... I was shocked!. I almost bought them... but then remembered I didn't have a tank for them to go into.

my newest girl is teeny like that. i always spazz when i see her resting on the bottom of her bowl(yeah. i know. evil), because there's a small rock in there that's bigger than she is! i've tiny hands, and she's smaller than my pinky finger! she's in a bowl, cause she's so teeny tiny, she's plenty of room in there till she gets bigger.

:eek: speaking of females, i've been looking for a girl like that! :eek: EXACTLY like that! ;__;

i actually have bought two bettas about as tiny if not smaller. i was just in to look around but was SHOCKED at the small size! i took them home (not at the same time). they were so small, couldnt eat a pellet if they tried. they got big and healthy on lots of bloodworms (best food for tiny growing fish) and eventually weaned onto pellets and flake.
needless to say, couldnt understand how.shy such a tiny fish was being sold! and i took pity on them and they got a nice home :hyper:
thats my tiny betta story.
cheers

I have a little pineapple girl that size. Sally, a CT I had, was about that small too. She grew to a normal (small) size though.

That happened to me, except I actually purchased the betta. Was sold as a female, but really was a very young male whom almost died because at the pet store they fed pellet s and he was too small to eat them! Daphnia helped the first week then he could eat bloodworms and brine shrimp, and eventually pellets.I made a thread about it with a photo guide of how he grew, it's really cool! http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/320338-smallest-betta-i-have-ever-seen-and-purchased-with-pictures/
