I just lost my little guy (ram), and its time for somthing new..i just dont know what...i have a 20gal with the inhabitants below and would like something else to go in there thats compatible also getting 3 dwarf botias, bearing in mind stocking levels....need help on what i could have....

I'd add more of each tetra instead of another cichlid. They need to be in groups of 6 minnimum so at least get 2 more of each species.

I love peacock gudgeons , why not get more ? :D and get rid of the tetras  :p I'm joking

Is it a long 20 [ breeder type 30 "] or a standard , I think 24 "?

Pairs of cichlids is tough in the 24 "

There are many dwarf cichlids out there .

Lateacara curviceps L. dorsiger

Nannacara Anomala N. aureocephalus

many Apisto species .[ a few easier to care for than others ].

If you are looking a single specimens you should be fine , may have trouble with pairs.

Also to step out of the cichlid box, Badis badis are nice cichlid like fish , and a pair would go nicely in your tank .

Also croaking and sparkling gouramis stay small , and can be an awsome sight .

All these fish should have a good amount of cover/caves , plants ...........

Are you getting chain loaches ?

yea im not looking for pairs just something to sorta fill some space, its really empty, and im not getting ne more tetras..yes i know about them..but there wered rescued i didnt really want them so they have a nice home now...but there not wot i really wanted..and im not specifically looking for cichlids just something nice..but different

edit..whats a chain loach?

Botia sidthimunki get to about 2 1/2 " according to reference books I have.

I think the smallest of botias .

I'd love some , but they are said to be kept in groups [ best ].

The ones I've seen near me are about an inch long and cost $15. each

I can get like 5 skunk loaches for almost the same money :/ , IMO chains are better looking , and supposedly hide less .

ahh rite,,,never herd them called that before, that why i was confused :p , i was going to by them once before they had 4 in the tank and they looked so sweet, so now i have decided i want them to keep my other one company, but im gunna have to wait till i come back off holiday!!! :D

the badis badis look quite cool, and so do the gouramis thanks for the suggestions

I should add badis wont eat flake or pellets [ mine never have ],they will eat many kinds of small freeze dried , froozen and live foods .

Good luck BOD . :D
