I decided to try one more time for a male guppy. Up till now no luck as they died within a few days to 3 weeks. I got a male lyre tail thhis time. He is happily swimming in my sons feeder guppy tank. I've had him 5 weeks now with no problems and hopefully it will stay that way. I intend to keep him there as every male I put in the community tank has died from one thing or another. Usually the swordtail manages to harass them to death. We will slowly phase out the feeders and bring in more fancy guppies; mostly female. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

if you add mainly females, you gunna have a lot of babies. i wouldnt add females until you are very ready for fry ( accomidation, food, where they go when they grow up etc)
fancy guppies arent very hardy, them dying doesnt mean anything your doing is wrong :)
good luck

Your fish should not be dying. Just because certain fish are not as hardy as others doesn't mean you should expect the fish to die. Make sure your water is good quality and stable. Fish like stable environments. Get yourself a test kit if you don't have one to check your bioload levels.
