Not overly important, but I wanted to share.

I went into a not so local fish shop today and saw some nice female bettas. I went and asked them what type they were (I can't really tell with females  ) and the guy says to me.....

THEY ARE A NORMAL ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said "what's a normal one?" and he goes "to be honest, I wouldn't have a clue".

So I asked him if he could ask one of the other guys, who told me they were DTs.

I also saw some (what would have been nice HM males) with hardly any tails left

While the guy was bagging the plec I bought, I thought one of the HMs were dead so I sort of moved the jar a bit and he slowly wiggled a bit. I was so sad after seeing them.

I won't be going there anymore!!!

was he right about them being DT?

we dont have jars in UK.. they just put them in tanks with suitable shoals of fish.. (although sometimes neon tetras! )

Well the males were definately DT, so I assume the females would have been too?

As I said, I'm bad with females lol

Yeah over here they are all in pretty small jars, like it would be hard for them to turn around in. Most of the bettas are always sitting on the floor and look dead!

thats awful..
but i guess it means they can have more choice. quantity not quality..

my LFS gets delivery on tuesdays, by wednesday all the bettas are gone lol.. i have only ever seen about 6-7 males at once

imo, I would rather see bettas in decently maitained cups, rather then thrown into tanks with god knows what and nipped to death.

That's what my LFS does, they use 1/2 gallon cups and change the water every day. I talked them into that, they were doing it twice a week.
