Well I was just in checking my fry and noticed this.

Even though this fry is one of the biggest, I think he is taking on to much of a mouthful here. have removed the half eaten fry which was still alive but i think it is dead now. just goes to show that in nature if your hungry it doesnt matter what or who you eat, Brother, sister, or sometimes parents.

oh gosh.Don't babies eat each other in the world because of less food sorcouces so they eat each other?

well this ones just a pig. was feed 1 hour before and there is still live food on the bottom. all the rest are around the same size so i wont be removing one fry for trying to eat his sibling. this is reality guy and gals fry eat fry.

so that was the only small one, i personally would either seperate the smaller ones or the larger, i hate seeing fry eat each other no matter how natural it may seem, and i could not of sat there and took photos, but maybe thats just me, i feel responsible for every fish i have fry or not

well there are around 60 fry in there, and I dont check every single fry for size. this is my hobby breeding bettas and its something you have to get over it you want to breed as often as I do.

i breed guppies but any larger fry i remove to avoid them eating the others but i can see you point with 60 of them. how old are they and do you have any pics of the parents?

will pop some pictures up later. but mummy is a copper (I love coppers  ) right got to goto shop now.

forgot to say they are just under 4 weeks.

I don't see why some of you are getting so up-in-arms about this.
What's so wrong with it. Fish eat their own all the time.

I think it's pretty interesting actually. I mean I know the parents will eat their own fry, but for some reason it never actually occured to me that fry would eat fry specially as tiny as those 2 are.

Very interesting! :good:

Yes indeedy! This is just part of what happens when you breed fish.

I want your avatar   ........
I see nothing wrong it is nature...I am a veggie though and had to come out of kitchen as hubby was watching something and they had a snapper fish complete with head on the plate.....yuck!!
