It'll have been asked before but I'd like specifics without having to tour the forum.

My daughter has a 60 litre tank and has five neon tetra's. We went to Pets At Home on Teesside Park last night and she got two peppered cory. She loved the betta in there And wanted one there and then, but, I the cruel father said no.
The set up above, is that ok for a betta?
Also, my setup, beneath my post, would this be too large? Or, the wrong tank companions?

Any infomation regarding these questions from experianced keepers will be most welcome.

Thank you :good:

You'll need five more cories; they're a shoaling species. The betta would attack the neons because of their bright color or the neons would nip him.

Oh, sounds like they are very particular about what they need.

Why five more cori? are they meant to be in no fewer than a shoal of seven?

Also, is my set up no good for a betta?

i have only ever had 2 corys and they seem just fine they spend as much time together as they do appart. A betta is better and happier off on his own really and as K.J. said there could be problems with the neons. You can get a 3-5gal tank cheapish that would be best

Sorry, improper wording; you'll need three more, equaling a shoal of five. I just firmly believe shoaling species should stay that way, shoaling.

I had two cory years ago and they were fine doing their own thing, independent of each other. So independent that they never spent any time together. Hence my reason for only getting her the two. Two is how it will stay too. They seem happy enough.

Thanks guys

they will still be happier in a shoal

Your set up is a no no for a betta you have gourmais and they will fight with the betta

Even though your Cories may seem fine, they will be a lot better in a group of 5+.
A Betta is best kept in a tank by himself rather than with tankmates.

i keep bettas with neons and have never had a promblem
i have 10 neons 1 male betta and two young female bettas and they all live happily together :good:

Please put a little effort into finding compatible fish. You won't be saying they live happily together when you find half your tank dead at the bottom. And that, is a guarantee.

Ok, ok, ok. I'll get her anothe three corie's next friday. And neither her nor myself shall hav a betta.
I am somewhat reluctant to add to my tank as it is to be honest, as I do like it to be suitably populated.

Thanks people :good:
