It Seems Very Odd....my Betta Is........

My betta was with a platy in a 10-gallon tank and the platy had to be removed b/c it stressed her out. She had terrible horizontal stress lines and once the platy was taken out, the stress lines went away. The platy was returned to the pet store and the betta is now alone and *happy* in her tank.

Either get rid of the platy or get him his own tank. But bigger than a 2.5 gallon. Your betta is probably stressed from the platy. Woodstock is right, a community tank would be really nice. You could keep the platy, your betta would be happy in his very own 5 gallon, and you could also get some additional fish for the 10 gallon. That would probably be your best option. But since you are unable to keep another aquarium, I would rehome the platy. Personally, I think theres always room for one more. If you save up for it, it wouldn't be too expensive. you could get the tank for about $12 or $13, buy a cheap filter on ebay or Craigslist (not sure if you have Craigslist in the UK...?) light at walmart $4 or $5. Plants, gravel, accessories. Hope i helped a lil :)

Well my parents just don't "understand" what I see in the fish. "It's only a fish" kind-of thing, but obviously I see differently. First you gotta decide what you're going to do with your platy, as it seems it may be the platy. If you want to experiment, take him out for about an hour or so ? Get a nice -big - container, maybe the previous 1 gallon, and put him in there, and see how your betta fares without the platy. Maybe even more than an hour. I don't really want to treat the platy poorly or anything, though... but for experimental purposes, lets see how it goes :)

Yeah. I'm putting my betta back in the tank today, and the platy is gonna stay out of a day or two, ich.
