Ok so as you may now, my RTBS which was helping cycle my fry tank looked ill, so I removed him to main tank but in a breeding trap and left fry tank empty over night and did a water change on it today.

Only prob is now I have just found 1 baby platy, its so so small, so I have had to put sharky back in the fry tank and the fry in the breeding trap,

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE!!!!! :-(

So should I put sharky in main aqaurium and risk him bullying everyone else, leave him in fry tank but do twice daily changes or put him in breeding trap and pray the baby makes it in main tank???

 Not more problems!
Honestly i feel really sorry for you Stu...
Anyhow
Have you anything made of aquarium grade plastic you could use to make a trap to keep at the top of the tank for the fry?
Or to make a divider for the community tank?

I'm not sure on the OP, did the RTBS eat the other babies?

Edit; Sorry  i get it, tank divider is your best plan, or a home made trap; keeping all in the main tank.
2nd best; keep the fry in a small container overnight (pint glass in the dark?), they produce little waste, if you maybe changed half the water overnight i'm sure it'd be fine.
But i must stress that i know nothing about breeding and/or fry so you could do with a second opinion on this.

No because he has not been loose in the main aquarium for a good week or so, it could only be the platy's mollies or corys who ate the rest, im sure there are more than 1 but they are incredibly small and I have a sandy coloured gravel which makes spotting seethrough tiny babies v v difficult!!

Dont think I have anythink thats clean (ie never had any disinfectants etc in it) I might pop out tomorrow to pick up a breeding net to put the shark in as its bigger than the trap, just means the top of the tank will look a bit poo!!

thanks for the inspiration, that idea never even tickled me lol

and yes, it seems to be problem after problem but once both tanks are cycled all should be well lol

cheers, I did indeed miss the edit lol

Pint glass seems a resonable option, I will post in livebearer section and fish for an opinion

Thanks (Yet again) Germ lol
Stu

I'll blame you for my next beer, should keep me out of trouble with the GF;
"But i was all depressed about Stu's fish."
Worth a try :fun: , good luck (again)....

LOL gonna join you in a virtual beer!! new job this week after 6 weeks out of employment, son from previous relationship hitting terrible twos finally upstairs in bed, and fish tanks with no end of problems.............

definately time for a beer!!!!

CHEERS

Tell me about it, just started a new job on nights....
10pm -7am stacking shelves, GF is pregnant, due on the 18th.
Got to work nights (in an abysmal job, desperate times=similar measures) and when baby comes play housedad. Then theres people with endless emergencies

So i'm getting the beers in while i still have the chance.
:drinks: cheers....
Take it easy, hope all goes well tonight.

Yeah not too bad, still only one baby platy, but everyone else seems fine in main tank, moved shark in there too and as he had not been in there for a while he was a bit edgy and just hid, then within about 24 hours he started staking out a cave which is when I managed to get an empty butter tub for him lol

cheers
