Just looked at a whole lot of fish and am going American Cichlids.
I think I will go with Firemouth's and/or Bolivian Butterflys and about 4 or 5 Balloon Blue Rams.
Sound alright or not?
I love those cockatoo's also, I am tempted to get some of them breeding in my current tank, once my fish move into thier bigger home. That or Kribs anyway....
Careful with Blue rams as they are a little fragile, bolivian rams are the hardiest of the bunch I think.
If you want a firemouth though, I would not add rams, or any dwarf cichlids for that matter, into the mix, they are too small and wont be able to stand up to a firemouth all that well.
Sevs get big (8-12") but are soft and not aggressive, acaras could go in there also as they are fairly placid...
With any cichlids tank it is best adding the least aggressive fish first (I have and haven't

), then add the harder varieties after, the bottom of the hierarchy will then be forced to adjust and the new, more aggressive fish will get what they want without needing to pick a fight and rip fins, lip lock etc...
ALso, take you time to decide whether you want variety or a breeding group...it's not good to try and do both at once. That's why I have all male cichlids in my main tank and am thinking of dwarf cichlid breeding in my 33g when free.
If I were you once you have a
good idea on what you want, I'd post a new thread in the new world cichlids section, you'll get a good feel how things will go based on all the feedback you will probably get. Cichlid keepers normally jump at the chance to suggest fish stocking
