looks like the dwarf gouramis, opulaine gouramis, and golden gouramis have been sprinkled with damp salt..im quite sure it is reading from sites on the web

can i treat it with no9?? ( internal bacterial stuff)-- yes i am stupid as i dont have anything for it in the house( it wont kill them all overnite will it??-- i thort it was bubbles on them at first, thats was this afternoon app 2)

this hobby isnt going quite as i planned, getting so tough to see them all suffer, i really thought we had come out the other side from one disaster after another, and will someone please write me shopping list of essentails to have in the house ( like you have calpol and savalon for kids)

feeling really deflated tonight, and dont honestly think i could deal with another loss, these dwarf gouramis went thru hell with the nitrite levels and all,and theres my silver shark in my other tank recovering from ( i hope) septicemia, and just lost a lot of fishes thru nitrite stress, they are NOT just fish they are little fish with personalities, they gave me so much pleasure, but i just cant do enough for them, it seems like as soon as i sort one thing ,something else is waiting to get them

98 litre
ammonia -0
nitrite-0
nitrate-10
ph-7.4
:-(

Whitespot looks like the fish had been sprinkled in salt.
No a bacterial med won't work you need a whitespot med.
If you think it is whitespot raise temp to 30, add med, remove black carbon if you use it, increase aeration in the tank as the med and high temp reduce 02 in the water.

hi wilder i have just started treating with interpet no6 for white spot, unfortunatley i lost one of the dwarf gouramis over night, and seems to be one more that isnt using 1 of his side fins ( think its called clamped)
i have to treat agin on the 4th day ( tues), when i fully cycled i didnt do a water change at all apart from the normal 20-30% one that i do but i read in another thread yeterday that when you have cycled after 10-12 hours you should do a 90% change, is this true?? and is this why the whitespot appeared?
and if it is true when should i do it now? taking into account that im medicating them till tues ( my regular weeley change is due sunday- should i do it or not)

No you don't do a 90% water change when tanks cycled that for them who do a fishless cycle.
Big water changes are bad as it stresses the fish to much with altering the stats to fast.
Whitespot can appear if temp has been altered to fast.

just a wee update

the gouramis that had his fin clamped is now swimming normally. hope this means they are on the mend, to be honest the whole tank seems a much happier one just now, fingers crossed

hi Biff
nitrate 10
nitrite 0
ammonia 0
gh= 3-6(dont understand that bit of the test)

ph is now 6.4, (was 7.4 on fri)=due to medication maybe??

missed out a water change today as i am treating them so didnt want to upset anything)

also i have a sponge filter, will this medication make the filter cycle again---------at this point you need to say NO !! ((( please no)))

Your stats look fine but medications can sometimes knock the benefical bacteria.

have lost another fish today, they were looking better today too, tho he was hiding rather a lot today, but hes not suffering anymore so thats good.
they get another treatment tommorow, and the other that are left are looking not so salty sprinkled, so maybe i will be lucky enough not to loose them all,
is it safe to do a water change while they are getting treament??????? as i missed sundays as i was worried that the medicine would be interfered with

If you have to preform a water change add the correct amount of med back to water removed.
