true just like us
their bodies are warm and the cold air condensates in their bodies and lowers their body temp then lowering their immune system like in us but because we are bigger this ends up in a cough

Yes. It is important to keep the outside air temperature close to the water temperature. It doesn't have to be exactly the same but when the outside air temp gets to be a significant difference cooler than the water temperature the bettas can get ill when they breath in the much cooler air while being adapted to a much warmer water temperature.

It's a good reason to keep some heat on in the house during the winter if you go away for the weekend.

Facepalm, cold air does not cause coughs and colds, viruses and bacteria do.

While it probably isn't good for them a tank with a lid will have humid warm air in the upper layers, so no problemo.

And what do u think is in ther air that servives at cooler temps aswell???? So yes we are both right cold air contains bactiria that "specilizes" in your respitory system rather then in the summer where its less common as air is warmer and it dsnt do so well
