I've heard humans have stomachs about the size of our fist, but have you seen how much food a person can down?SirMinion said:Our Puffer, Martha has eyes a little smaller than the size of a UK twenty pence piece, but can eat two jumbo prawns the size of her head in one sitting.leongreenway said:My boss told me the LFS told her that eat fishes stomach size could be judged by the size of the fish's eye. (same size)
Is that true ??![]()
Our Chacachaca has eyes the size of a pinhead, but swallows food half the length of his body.
Need I go on?
Very true, and puffers have unbelievably elastic stomachs, allowing them to do this!:OrkyBetta said:The stomach expands when anything eats, and food in liquid form or semi solid form never takes up as much room.
Yeah, I was wrong. They are Cartilaginous Fish. In other words, fish are vertebrates, in that they have a backbone and spinal column. Sharks don't have bones, it's skeleton is of cartilage. But, sharks do indeed have a spinal column, so... Sharks also have "eyelids" which other fish do not and they can't breath while motionless, unlike other fish.sylvia said:It is (technicaly or otherwise) a fish...![]()
The theory that sharks cant breath when motionless has been disproved again and again over the last 2 decades. There are many types of sharks than remain motionless for long periods on the bottom, including the grey nurse, a type not normally would not be considard a bottom dweller/rester! So maybe some cant rest but there ARE many that can.Nospherith said:Sharks also have "eyelids" which other fish do not and they can't breath while motionless, unlike other fish.
