Hello

i have posted on here a few times and some of you may know my previous stocking. but i noticed some fins nipped so i decided to change as i had alot of top dwellers and bottom dwellers and nothing in the middle.

so now i have the following. please tell me if this is overstocked or if you would recommend something else i could maybe add or remove.. re

remmember i am going for a peaceful community

1 silver shark (not too big but will go as soon as its bigger)
2 angels
2 black mollies
6 praecox rainbows
12 glowlight tetras
5 corys
5 otos
3 khulli loaches.

what does everyone think. is this overstocked.
i have the following aqua one 180 litre tank with sand substrate, bogwood n rocks with an tetratec external ex700 filter which will get upgrade to the ex1200 at some point.

thanks in advance

The only thing I would be concerned about is the angelfish possibly eating the glo-light tetras when the angels get big. But generally angels are fine with little fish if they grow up with them. Problems usually occur when little fish are added to a tank with full grown angels in. Then they get eaten.

Most of the fish will eat baby mollies so you might not get many young from them.

thanks.. to be honest i decided to have the mollies becausen there cool and i know many of the young will probaly get eaten anyway so the angels will hopefully keep them at bay. would mind the odd one though. could make some money on them.

but the glowlights and angels are small so im hoping there ok.

but other then that. do you reckon i could add more fish.. or not to bother.

thanks

you could add more fish but it depends on how often you do water changes and how much water you change. Also on how often and how much they get fed.

What else did you want to get?

well i change at the moment with the amount of fish in there i do around about 45% change in the water and i also gravel the vac. i find this pretty easy to do as the syphon i have is pretty big. also i havent had a problem with ammonia, nitrates are at 20ppm and nitrites are 0. or the other way around.

and i dont mind changing water that often.

the thing is i dont know what fish i want.

i want small fishes so that i can have more. i dont want cichlids so that rules that out.

i want a fish that swims mainly towards the bottom as i find the rainbows, angels, and the tetras pretty much spend most of there time up there.. so the bottom looks bare.. even though i have done alot of aqua scaping..

i do quite like loaches but would that interfer with what i have already. and preferably dont want anything that gets too big..

theres quite a few tetras i like but i reckon they would just end up schooling at the top with the others. i try to make sure that they all get food.
i mix what i give them.

i feed them blood worms twice a week. they its just the small sinking pellets, flakes and algae wafers. but i dont overfeed. i feed them just enough to get by. and 2 times a day.

have decided i will have a school of 6 diamond tetras...maybe??????????????????

really... wow never knew Angelfish were cichlids.. learn something new everyday. .

although i would prefer the bigger kind of tetra.

oh the choices..

If the Angels you have turn out to be a breeding pair, they could get very nasty with the other fish if they get as far as laying eggs.

you could try some cherry barbs. they might be big enough to not get eaten but small enough to not cause much of a problem. the index page on them and other things i've read say that they stay near the bottom and middle.

or maybe dwarf/chain loaches. i think loaches are awesome...but these will primarily be at the bottom of the tank.

these are just some ideas, i don't know if it'd be too much for the tank or not.

well i did have some cherry barbs in there last week and they schooled with the rainbows.. i have fish at the bottom n top. but nothing really in the middle.

loaches sound pretty good. i quite like the yoyo loach. whats the min amount i could keep of them. or ne alternative loaches.

Diamond Tetras would be fine as they actually grow bigger than Glowlight Tetras.
