Not long ago, I posted a thread saying my two 3" Clown Loach were growing thin.

Well, today I've taken some pictures with one of them.

Anyone can tell me if this is the Skinny Disease? :/

If it is, where can I get Maracyn/Erythromycin equivalent treatment in the UK?

You're clown loach looks fine. What do you feed them?

Mine eat frozen bloodworms, hikari carnivor pellets, fish flakes, and of course snails. They will also eat zuchini (lightly boiled so it will sink) and frozen peas (skinned). Both provide a varied died and the frozen peas will help in digestive problems.

But the area near the lateral line looks sunken?! Is that an early sign or just that it looks a bit on the thin side?

Mine are just not interested in the food anymore!! I tried giving them frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms, tubefix, black mosquito larvae but b4 they came out to eat, those Swordtail swamped in and finished it all!!

I also tried on giving them different varieties of sinking pellets, flakes, plus cucumber, none they are interested, except a few bites on the pellets.

They would come out and play, quite active sometimes but just that they wont eat. They would sleep next to the cucumber (I even left it overnight) without bothering to eat it. :/

How do you feed them peas? I thought they'll float?

I just skin the peas, split them in half and drop them in the tank. No problems of them floating.

I guess just keep the medication for abit. Also get Garlic guard, which helps increase the fishes appetite. Just soack the food in the garlic guard before feeding the fish.

Cheers!

But that's where my problem is...

In UK, we can't purchase any antibiotics without prescription from the vet. And I don't know which medicine (that I can get without prescription) contains Erythromycin that'll cure Skinny disease...

I know MaracynI will do, but can't get it in UK... and need to find something similar :/

Hi Caroline, aww you are so kind!!

You've really seen they have Maracyn (by Mardel Labs) in the LFS in your area? I tried calling them (more than 10 LFS) but none have it... They've all mistaken Maracyn as Myxazin by Waterlife :/
