I've had my betta 9 weeks now. He's in a 15 litre tank with an Elite mini filter and a 25w heater. He's been resting in some strange places. His first choice was on top of the filter, then after a few weeks he moved to under a leaf. Now he's taken to resting vertically in the narrow space between the filter and heater. The heater has a plastic cage round it but is it safe for him? Should I move them further apart to stop him?

On a different topic, he had us in stitches the other day. I found a small chunk of frozen daphnia. I put it in his tank without thawing it, so it just floated. He came rushing over, flaring at it, then swam round and round it still flaring. As one daphnia at a time broke off, he'd gobble it up then go back to circling and flaring. He only stopped when they all sank!

I shouldnt worry too much about him harming himself on the heater i used to cringe when i saw my bettas sitting on or near the heaters. they especially liked to sit on the suckers that hold the heater to the tank.

when i give my betta frozen foods like bloodworm i always take a little of the tank water out into a container and put the cube of bloodworm in there until its thoughrly de frosted.

thats only my choice -

very funny about him flaring at his food :good:

I usually do thaw the frozen food in some water, then give some to each of the betta, the endlers, and the community tank, but this time there was this tiny piece in the tub so I just put it in whole.
