Is This Right ...

I saw a bronze cory recently that was humungus. I was gob-smacked and it takes a lot to leave me speechless lol. Mine had better not get that big or I'm going to have to find room for a 5ft tank :hey:

I keep meaning to get a pic when I go to my Lfs.
In their display tank they have huge platys, double the size you normally see, & the huge corys.
It's good tbh as makes you think about your stocking, as when you buy fish they're usually juveniles, so good to see how big they might actually get

yeah, I think the bronze one I saw must have been about 10 inches long and hugely fat aswell. And to be honest it had lost it's cuteness

10 inches?! Or 10 cms? 10 inches really would be a mental size for a bronze cory, whereas 10 cms I could see happening...

ps I'll move this to the corydoras section

A bronze Corydoras as big as my 12+ spot Synodontis notata?

LOL, were you known as Ponocchio in a former life? :p

If you had no other Corys I'd think 12 Pandas in a 3 foot tank is fine, in fact you could probably add even more. Of course it all depends on what other fish you intend to keep with them & whether you have sand substrate, etc. Pandas are one of the smaller Corys. I wouldn't recommend 12 Emeralds or Peppereds..............

The main problem I have with large numbers of Corys is knowing whether or not all are getting enough food and generally keeping track of them.

Yeah, I meant cms ... (it had been a long day, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

I have issues aswell with feeding - I worry they arn't getting enough as my guppies and platies are so blooming greedy. I feed flake and sinking pellets for the cories and once the guppies and platies have eaten all the flake they then go and start eating the pellets. I've now started to put a bit extra flake in so some falls to the substrate so my cories get to eat something. I put algae wafers in too but the platies love them aswell. I had a tank full fighting over an algae wafer last night. It kept them and me occupied for a while lol.

RE- My stocking.

At current time I have exactly what it says in my sig. I'm waiting for my guppies to die (they're getting old now) and then I have considered a couple of honey gourami. I'd like to keep on with my platies as I like their personalities and their colour difference and they are good community fish.
I have no plans to start adding anything complicated as I didn't start the hobby for that reason. I started it to help me deal with stress issues.

My tank is due it's maintenance any day so I'm planning on getting rid of a couple of the stones. I may just keep my bogwood and plants as decoration. This would allow more floor space to add a few panda cories.
I have noticed in the last few days though that 2 of my peppered cories seem to have paired up and now they are getting bigger it is looking like they maybe a male and female. I may have to get one more peppered as I'm concerned that leaves one peppered on it's own and mostly hiding somewhere.

As an aside, did you manage to get your freeze dried tubifex? I bought some a while back but my fish just didn't seem to go for it so the box is sat here collecting dust. Will happily give it to you for a few quid.

I'm just about to head out to see if I can get some whilst I'm getting dog food. If I still can't get any I'll let you know. My cories love their tubiflex

I managed to get some tubiflex Cezza but thank you for the offer :good:

I just got another pair of bronze cories ... and got an added extra ... some kind of snail. Could be an assassin, not sure yet.

I may get 4 panda cories at a later date

I can see 12 cories in a 3ft tank..

I currently have 7 albinos, 4 Skunks, and a Swartz's cory in my 4ft. Unfortunately I lost two skunk cories, but the rest are doing well. Aslo have 5 Kuhli loaches in there. They have TONS of room leftover even with 12 cories and 5 kuhlis. I plan on upping the numbers of the skunks and schwarz's

well I'm now aiming for 12. I have 3 peppered so I'll make that up to 4, I now have 4 bronze and I plan on getting 4 panda's later.

I also did some research in the snail section and the freebee looks like a Malaysian Trumpet Snail ... cool :D

Hello every one, I can say this, a good rule to follow is 1 fish per 1 gallon of water. Now this also depends on the size of the fish in your tank. Keep in mind Cory's stay on the bottom of the tank. (Most the time) When water condition starts to effect them they will tend to come to the surface and get air. Hope this helps.
