rite i have a 4x18x18 it did have 1 jack dempsey, 1 green terror,2 firemouths. i was at my lfs today a seen a lovely silver shark probs about 6/7 inch ( i no hel get bigger gettin 6ft tank very soon) so i was told hed mix ok so i got him. put him in tank as ya do. after he calmed down a bit a few hour later jack dempsey seems to be bullying him abit and to be honest it looks a bit out of place with my fish. was i right to get him?

shall i rehome him?

may thanks

yes that makes more sence. sorry  . but they still need to be in groups, not to sure how well they will get on in that tank, it may be a bit aggessive for them. might be ok when he's got some buddys?

I think he meant he'll be getting a 6ft tank soon to rehome the silver shark.

Personally I wouldn't put a single silver shark in a south american cichlid tank. The cichlids get a bit tough on the sharks and the silver sharks are a schooling fish. They do prefer to be in groups.

The firemouth would probably be fine but the green terror and jack dempsey could be a problem.

I would probably return it to the shop and say the others were kicking hell out of it. The shop should give you a full credit for it and you can use that to purchase a suckermouth catfish or another cihclid. You could try some of the bigger species of gourami, perhaps kissing gourami or blue/gold gourami. They are pretty tough and will live in pairs or on their own.

yea maybe he just looks abit 'odd' in my tank i have chichild wich arent to big and quite colorfull. and one big silver shark i you no wot i mean.
