is it possible to grow bloodworms yourselves? I've always wanted to ask this question for a long time.

this is because my fish LOVE bloodworm and I've wondered if i grow my own fresh bloodworm if would be better for them

is this possible has any one tried it before or even thought of it before?

thank you zikofski

hmm tbh i didn't think to look there i shall take a look :D thnx

I get bloodworms occuring all the time in any stagnat water I have in containers around the yard, they even seem to thrive in my pond hiding out amongst the tangle of lily roots. The eat dead vegetation/ organic matter and I have found that a lump of old untreated wood left in some water quite quickly ends up with a bloodworm population happening. The trick will be to not over harvest and allow some of the bloodworms to reach adulthood (become gnats) so they can breed and continue the population.

I never feed my fish live bloodworm only frozen because im worried about introducing parasites.

I always feed live food my LFS sells them in small bags £1 ea. blood worms, daphine, Glass worms, Brine shrimp
