The only reason I ask is that ever since I changed to black gravel I notice the fish waste a lot more now and there seems to be loads of it. Fortunately no ammonia or nitrite problems, nitrates I'm ok about because its planted and I do 15% WC twice a week so I don't check them as often.

I'd say you're okay, although I wouldn't be looking to add too many more fish.

With nitrates, as long as you're changing often enough that their don't stray above 20ppm what comes out of your tap, you should be okay.

I think the fish will be happy in a tank that size as long as the chemicals are kept at bay. What's your filtration like?

It's just life with black gravel. I think of it this way; all that crap used to disappear into the gravel, never to be seen again and now you can easily get to it. Also it's easier to get it all out because you can see it! In the end I bought myself a cheapo Marina battery operated gravel vac so that I could clean the substrate without doing a water change. I do a vac two or three times a week now :) but I am kind of a weirdo and enjoy doing it lol
