I have a 29 g tank. and i been wondering if its been over crowded or not.

4 Red tailed black sharks
5 bandit corys
4 platys
2 small clown loaches
1 betta

most people would say its crazy to have 4 RTBS but they get along believe it or not. there is always an exception to the rules. they dont fight they eat next to eachother often.

also im thinking that my clown loaches might grow to big, but right now they are very small probably less then 1 inch. so how long do u think i have be4 they grow to large?

Well i guess the tank is pretty crowded the RTBS will go way big for ur 29 gal tank.

You have 4 red tailed black sharks which grow 10cm a piece, and clown loaches that can grow around 30cm and longer....

In all actuality the tank isn't that overstocked, and the RTBS only get's to 4", so it will not grow too large for your tank. I do however recommend removing 3 of the RTBS's, as they are extremly territorial when they grow a bit larger. It's recommended for even a tank of 55gallons to have only 1 RTBS if any at all.

Actualy, my RTBS is about 7".

I would get rid of the clown loaches and three RTBS.

Wow, not too often you see a 7" RTBS, mind you mines now 5" in a 55gallon, so I guess it really depends on the living conditions. I agree however, remove 3 of the 4 RTBS and the clown loaches.

Definitely have to get rid of those clown loaches- they get HUGE.

hmm i dont know, the RTBS seem to be fine with eachother, they all have a spot that the other ones dont go to.

i really like wood in my tank so i made a lot of places to be. and plants are behind the wood making even more places to hide.

the clown loaches are still pretty small, maybe when they get a little bigger i'll give them to the fish shop cuz i know the owner he'll probably let me trade in for some other fish.

im also thinking about getting rid of the platys.

so if i take away 4 platys and 2 clowns wat do u think would go well with my fish? i kinda wanted to bring back my tiger barbs into that tank, but the betta is there now and his fins would probably get owned by tiger barbs.

kinda looking for mid dwelling schooling fish, maybe get 6 of them to replace 2 clowns and the 4 platys. any ideas? looking for fish that wont kill my betta, but are still interesting to look at.

Get rid of at least 3 sharks or they will do it themselves. Get rid of the clown loaches I saw a MASSIVE one at my lfs yesterday.

Come on! 5 people have told you to get rid of them. They will be fine with each other, and then one day you will wake up to find all of them dead.

This is a common mistake with RTBSs. When they are smaller they apparently are fairly placid, but once they start to get bigger they become territorial. They will also probably eat your betta. The clown loaches will get way to big for sure.

I think to sum up here...

At the moment everything is cushty.

- Your clown loaches will eventually get big.
- RTB 's at the moment, the little child's they are, are tame, but naturally they will become terrotorial where you maybe able to help which sheltered hiding etc, but what about feeding times?

personally I do think though space wise your tank is large enough for four, but not recommended. one is ok...also thats how they prefer it!

yes you are correct, he does have the space for four. but when they get to about 2-3" they will start to fight for the whole tank and he will realize that it wont work when 3 of the four are dead.
