a 55 gallon tank with: 1 BROWN knife fish, 1 rope fish, 5 glass catfish, 2 pearl gouramis, 1 gold nugget pleco............am i over/under stocked

The brown knife fish and rope fish will get fairly big. I don't know if they would do okay in a 55 gallon. I am sure someone will come by and give you more help.

rope gets up to 15 inches and knife gets up to 10 inches

The ropefish would be fine, but what knife do you mean?

The african brown knife (Xenomystus nigri)

Or do you mean another fish? The one I mentioned (X. nigri) gets about 8" long, and would do great in a 55

Oh, I've never heard of those, although if it only gets to 10" it should be ok IMO

So far so good except i am not sure about the rope fish. Brown Knif fish can get to 12" and should be fine in a 55. ypu should be ok except for maybe the glass cats but they school i think so you should be ok.

just say i got an 15 inch ropefish (maximum size) what would be the smallest fish in inches that would safely be housed with it?
