Hi there im new to the forum and have a question which im hoping someone can help me with :)
ok so we have a 4ft x 1 foot wide x 16 inches tall tank and have the following fish:

2 angels
4 red honey gouramis
3 neon tetra's (i know they do not go well with angels but they have been fine. we werent aware when we bought them)
1 peppered cory
and 3 LARGE pleco's.

now are we are going to rehome our plecos as they are too big for our tank now. are 2 biggest being 9-10 inches in length. anyway we were going to get 2 bristlenose pleco's instead. however my aunt has decided to get rid of her fish + tank and we were possibly going to give them a home. she has:

2 neon tetra's
2 zebra danios
2 small plecos. maybe 4 but i doubt 5 inches
1 tricolour/silver/bala shark (whatever its called) which is about maybe 3 odd inches.

so yeah i was just wondering would these go quite well in our tank? if we did go with them fish i would also like to get another cory four our little guy and another angel to spread out some bossing around problems which one of our angels is starting to display signs of.

also if we didnt go with my aunts fish i would like to get the following instead:

another angel (possibly 2???)
another peppered cory
some dwarf gouramis
a pair of bristlenose pleco
and maybe some more little colourful fish like tetras (not neons)

ok i would like anyone and everyones opinion on the options XD

1.) is my tank big enough for more fish and if yes
2.) are my aunts fish ok for my tank?
3.) are another angel and cory ok aswell as my aunts fish?
4.) instead of my aunts fish should i get the last list of fish i typed.
5.) any extra opinions and advice welcome XD thanks!

can nobody help me????

also i just thought of a different set of fish i could get would be

2 more angels
maybe 4 more corys
some gouramis

would 5 or 6 cory's do the same work as a pair or 3 plecos?

First of all just re-home the plecos this is the first thing to do as they are hard to rehome when they are big i am in the process of rehoming plecos and it took a long time to find them a home.
For your aunt if she lets you you could take the neons and the danios but don't take any more plecos or the bala shark as this will outgrow your tank.
Definatlly geet some more mates for your cory they feel better in bigger groups try and get 5 +. I think you could get bristlenoses not to sure on that.

Hi, ok,

Your tank sounds fine for what you have, plus your aunts fish, except the shark, as they get very big and need to be in large shoals, but would be ok if it was quite small but would eventually need re-homing.

If you have your aunts plecs, then I wouldnt get bristle's as well, althought they dont get large, they poop like nobodies business and place a heavy bio load on your filters.

If you have two angels that get along I would be hesitant to add another, angels can be territorial and may although not definate, not take to the new angels and harrass him to death.

Other than that, your tank size and fish list looks fine.

oh ok. well yh im going to sort out the plecos tomorrow. and just wanted to ask about the corys again. would i be just as good with 5 or 6 corys as a couple of plecos? will they get the same job done and help upkeep the tank? also do i have to get the same type of cory? i have a fully grown peppered cory and would maybe like some albine ones aswell as more peppered. also would my cory be ok with smaller corys? he is quite large about 3inches from nose to tail and over an inch from abdomen to tip of dorsal. oh and also before i forget thanks for the advice btw :D the angels get along... however one is becoming slowly more dominant. he is slightly bigger than our other angel and i have noticed that the other angel has some bite marks on his fins and tail. i thought getting more angels would spread out the aggression but i can definatly see what you mean with the territorial issues. i never thought of that.

and where the plecos are concerned our LFS is quite large and we have asked them before and they are willing to take them on. we will phone them up and want to ask them not to put them up for sale if possible and see if they could go in one of their display tanks or one of their own tanks at their homes. we have been unwilling to rehome them before as we were worried where they would end up... any advice on this?

Corydoras do a better job in my opinion for cleaning up left overs and they dont poop so much, so much cleaner fish to keep. If the LFS are willing to take them, then let them, providing they are a good LFS they should be fine and have a better change of finding a new home as to try and sell them.

You can mix corydoras if you want to, sometimes they stay together but usually if they are happy and confident they will go off in their own shoals. Cory's are peaceful so i wouldnt worry about the larger bothering the small new ones, they will be fine.

The angels can be aggresive especially as they get older, usually its a good idea to have either one or six to spread any aggression, but your tank isnt big enough Im afraid for 4 more.

If your worried about where their gonna go try to re-home them yourself and go to have a look at the buyers tank and just check to see if its big enough etc etc. Yeah i'd just go for more cories and leave out the plecos. I don't think thye do keep up the cleaning but i suppose you could buy some snails of some sort or cherry or amona shrimp are good.
Well its a gamble with the corys some do go together some don't. Even so i think you could get mroe peppered corys and albino corys (I love albinos mine have so much personality). As for would they be okay with each other - i'm not entirely sure but i don't tihnk corys are aggressive so maybe ask some other people. I have no clue about angels never had them before sorry.

ok will definatly go for corys then. coz plecos just get too big i think. and they need more floor space whereas my little cory buzzes round everywhere. i think i will let the angels be. they get along and are always pretty much together, will just keep an eye on them. and thats quite good about the corys then coz the ones i see for sale everywhere are sooo iddy biddy and im scared im i bring em home shamu's gonna flatten em XD

also with the plecos i think we will go with the LFS. they are very good and definatly know what they are doing. been very helpful while we have had the tank.

i also think we will get some maybe dwarf gouramis, little colourful fish aswell. not loads though. THANKS PUPPYJESS AND MINXFISHY! :D
