I've put some plants in my tank that looked great at first, now few of the leaves here and there on a couple of types of plants are turning brown and going see through. Is this normal for plants that have just been placed into a new tank? or is my set up inadequate?

My set up is as follows:

tank 80x30x40 clear seal
filter Eheim 2012 pick up
Jager heaterstat 100w,
Light 24" 10000k 20w t8 light
7.5kg aqua grit

dosing with flourish excel as stated on the packet.

If they are swords and vallis and similar plants then yes it does happen but they soon shoot and get better, just remove all the dying leaves.

Contrary to this i've only had this when my set-up has been lacking something such as stable CO2 and/or inadequate dosage of ferts. If one of the three elements are lacking somewhat then you'll have some issues ranging from plant malnutirtion to algae growth.

Check your lighting WPG
Check your CO2 stability + distribution
Check your fert dosage

Keeping these in the right parameters will greatly improve growth. You'd be surprised how little adjustments can reap huge rewards :)
