Two weeks ago I added an external filter to my tank, I have left the internal Juwel filter running along side for the time being and hope to remove it soon. I have been away for a week and when I returned there are lots of white flakes built up on the inside of the inlet and outlet pipes of the external filter (Tetratec EX700) if I press/squash the pipe the flakes come loose and those on the outlet pipe will obviously enter the tank. Is this normal on an external filter if not what is it and how do I get rid of it? or should I just leave it?
