I've got 4 Guppys, at night when all the lights are turned off they always rest on the bottom, but the biggest guppy of mine is now starting to do it during the day and is only mainly active when it's feeding time or another two are chasing it round in circles lol.

Any idea why it's doing this? Just resting?

It's the only one that does it

This is the guppy:

The other two above it are the two that keep chasing it arround. I've been told they are all male, but sheesh it must be a fat orange male?

It's only been happening the since yesterday, still swims fine and eats fine... just keeps laying arround lol, is it bad or normal?

Thanks

PS - Sorry mobile is my only camera! :(

The pic's good.
Also yes their all males. As stated before.

The one in question dose not look too good. esp if he's like that all the time.

He's not looking in bad health though, may be a gill problem so he's not getting enough oxygen which would make him lethargic.

Thanks,

I have a large airstone creating like a 'wall of bubbles' and the air from my built in lid filter. Isn't that enough or am I missing somthing here

Every time I go upto the tank, he will swim upto the top flat out as he thinks i'll be feeding, then he will swim arround for a while befor going back and sitting at the bottom.

The little orange one in the picture is always stayin with him, not chasing him or anything just floating above / around him.

You think I might loose him? ????

.1 nitrite is not going to cause a fish to be lethargic like that I don't think. If it was like .25 or higher then yes it could start causing issues. I would go more along with what helter said possibly not getting enough oxygen. I wouldn't read too much into your nitrite being .1 being an issue yes they should be 0 but that low a number is not going to cause issues with fish.

I didn't think it would be that bad.

Anyway, it's been swiming arround normaly for the past couple of hours... so 0.1 musn't be that bad.... lol :)

I didn't say it was the cause I said it was part of it. Add 0.1 nitrite to other problems such as stress from bullying, low oxygen levels, old fish and the 0.1 nitrite becomes another thorn in the back side for that fish.

If the temperature of the tank is 25C or more, drop it down a little to improve the oxygen levels in the water. Colder water can hold more oxygen but obviously the temperature needs to be above about 21C for a guppy.

24 it's always at, but i'll drop it a little more to 21-22 see how that goes.

He hasnt done it today though so far and didn't do it for the last couple of hours befor lights went out last night.
