I have a 180l tank which is one year old. At the weekend I put in 3 small otocinclus to help with the algae. They are extremely active, really too much so as they are racing round the tank, not stopping more than a moment or so to graze then off again. When they stop on the front glass their hearts/lungs are going like mad. I could understand it if my water was poor quality as I know otocinclus are delicate but my stats are perfect except for nitrate of 8 (my tap water is 8). Has anyone else experienced this frantic behaviour?

My tap water is 8! Where did he come from?

ha ha the code for that smily is 8) so when you type that the smily appears instead unless you've disabled smilies.

I like the idea of 8) tap water!

I think it's just because your otos are new - they'll probably settle down after a while.

I'd double the amount of Otos; they really do like the company of their own kind.
