I bought a heater and now it is set to 72 but my tank is 79-80F so should I just take it out until winter I live in Texas, US so it is pretty hot here. I know that it will turn off when it reaches its temperature but set at 72 it is still turning on and off and all my thermometers are in the 78-80 mark so what should i do take it out or keep it in in the winter

i had the same thing, my heater was set on 73 and it was at 80 so i turned it off, next day the tank temp was 72ºF. so it does help a little. i live in iowa so its a big colder here at nights.

I believe this is the third time you have started a topic with this same question. This is quite simple, if you have a heater your tank will not drop below the setting you have set. If you have no heater your tank water will hang around the same temp as your room temp. All tropical fish should be housed in the approximate range of 72F-80F. So if your room temp is in the mid 70's at all times even at night there is no need for a heater. If your room temp falls below the mid-low 70's at any time it is a good idea to have a heater.

I live in Atlanta, and during the summer, I unplug my heaters. The tanks rarely get below about 78F during the summer.
