I have a 2 gal tank right now, and my betta having jsut recovered from finrot, but however, i have a stingray 5 fitler init and 1 white cluod mountain minnow in it right now(had another one, was eaten by yours truly)
the minnow usually stays at the top of the tank and the betta is swimming around eying the minnow everyonce inawhile, i plan to move to a 3.3 gallon soon with both, but i think i have lack of decorations though. The current for the filter doesnt afft the betta too much until he swims behind it and is hit full force with the filter.

My Betta likes the filter rush, he keeps playing in it.

Not sure about putting your minnow in with the betta, especially if he has already eaten one.

Betta's don't seem to mind if a tank is bare or not, I have it pretty much bare at the moment only a piece of bogwood in mine, but I am planning on adding plants soon. It all depends on what you want - but I would just keep an eye out on the minnow.

been paying close attention he leaves the minnow alone most of the time i get false impressiosn when he goes up loosk liek hes going for hte minnow but he goes for air instead lol, i need a new tank, not a tall one...

i've heard that bad things happen when bettas have to compete with other fish for a layer of water. since bettas are often at the top of the water getting air, i would think that this could go very bad very quickly. i think the sooner you can get them a bigger tank, the better, regardless of how decorated it is. you can always work on that slowly.

well , it seems to be slightly improving though, the minnow just stays near the filter where the current is quite strong and the betta prefers to swim everywhere else, i would like to get a 3.3 gallon up soon though, but the 2 gallon would me given to my cousin for his betta(almost 4 years of having hte betta)(in a .5 gal vase =( )

You either need to move the minnow to another tank or take them back to the lfs, I'm afraid. They prefer to be kept in groups of at least 5. :/

lol ... well i can mvoe the minnow to a 10 gal(not properly stocked(well only problem is buying a single rosy barb) belogns to cousins who wont listen to my advice...) okie well i guess ill try giving my white cloud to my cousins tank for now..
