Beauty but kind of odd looking http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwbettashm&1315642206

I would assume that the pictures are just "smooshed" up.
But who knows :D

He does look a little shorter than normal but that is mostly because he's got his fins flared up. I think he's adorable. Beautiful finnage. He might even be a double tail. Hard to tell from the picture.

He is beautiful  and its probably all that finnage (if theres such a word) that makes his body look shorter. I would definitely say he's a double tail. Is he on your I must have him list?

he could also be swimming at an angle to the camera giving a shorter body impression. He is lovely though

He could be a short bodied, theres a fair few about these days :/ my new DT is slightly shorted than normal and has huge fins on her

Always wanted to import one but am afraid of the risks involved for the fish, also just want one so I dont know if its worth the hassle, these are not available in my country as people dont want to buy fish costing a couple of thousands in local currency, strange logic I meant look at what you're getting, the best looking fish in the world.

Yes all doubletails have a shorter body and their top fin is longer and wider than the other types. I keep all doubletails and they do have this short cobby body. Some breeders say that they are more prone to swim bladder issues so one has to be careful not to overfeed them. I personally love them, they have beautiful fins if you can find a nice one.

I am going to disagree with you there, not ALL DTs have short bodies, i have 2 a male & female. The female has a short body but the male doesn't
