I got her at my lfs last night and to me she looks like she's due any day now. I figured that if I bought her that her fry would have a better chance of survival with me instead of in that small 10 gallon tank with about 15 other mollies. Let me know what you think guys.

Cutie.

High five for thinking about her needs like that :good:

Anyway, I don't know much about mollies but she looks pretty preggo to me!

I have a hard time telling about molly's becuase of their belly lol. What i saw in mine is her belly did get slighly darker when see was about to pop. Very nice looking fish though good luck if she is and get some fry pics up when she pops :good:

What size of tank is she in and are there any other tank mates?

post a picture from above to give a better idea of her size, if from above she is ball shaped then she's preggo, i do warn you though my balloon molly had 102 fry in one batch

I am just like DarkerWhite2. I can never figure out anything about a balloon molly because they don't have normal features to start with. I can never tell if the extreme belly shape is pregnancy or just the normal shape for that fish. I might eventually catch on if they were all the same but some balloons are more ballooned than others.

Sorry but she already gave birth, She was in a 10 gallon heavily planted tank all by herself. Unfortunately I was working at the time she gave birth which really sucked because only 6 fry survived :/ ! If she dropped the amount of fry lilfishie mentioned, then she must had a huge fiest  !!!

Sorry to hear of the fry troubles Tunerhead. I find that well fed mollies in general are easier on their fry than many other livebearers. I had a recent drop by a large female and have about 30 left after 20 days. I caught this picture of the tank after 10 days. I don't think I have lost any since.

wow! And she's still in there huh, I guess that was my mistake not feeding more often. I always fed her once a day at 6 o'clock, well now I know. I'm expecting her to drop again in 4 weeks, but like you said it's so hard to tell if she's pregnant or not, when she gave birth I thought she was still pregnant, till I noticed her chasing one of the fry!

My first experience with this female was when I placed her in the birth tank and kept treating her as if part of a large community tank. At that tank she was getting just enough food and I had to remove her shortly after she gave birth because she was chasing fry. This time I fed her smaller meals 2 or 3 times a day during the wait and since the birth. I include lots of spirulina as well as regular flake in the feedings because I know mollies are very fond of their veggies and the fry grow well on it too. At the 10 day point, the fry had gained about 50% of length compared to their birth size. Today, day 19, they are about double their birth length at around 1.5 to 2 cm. I will get more pictures after the lights come on today as I am documenting this particular batch's growth starting at birth as a breeding record for my fish club's set of breeding records.

Have you ever witness a mollie give birth in less than a month?? Also say I have a pearl balloon male mollie and a dalmation female mollie what are the chances of them mating??

They will breed just as readily as two Mollies of the same type.

The reason I'm asking is because I'v had them in my community tank for about 6 months and she's never gotten pregnant, he doesn't seem to care for her at all! He's more interested in my dwarf gourami, there always together!

Yea I'm sure, the male has one fin that kinda looks like a stick or straw, and the female has two fins at the bottom of her belly.
